2023 Celebration In Blue

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, the Huntsville Area Chapter - National Alumnae Association Spelman College (HAC-NAASC) members came together for their annual Celebration In Blue. Chapter members welcomed over 40 guests, including three rising junior and senior young women aspiring to attend Spelman. The Celebration In Blue (CIB) event is when chapter members recognize our HAC graduates and award Huntsville area students entering Spelman College with the Dr. Bessie Washington Jones (BWJ) Scholarship. Kennedy Benion, Mikala Calhoun, Jiana McDonald, Quincy Wilson, and Katilyn Viers each received $1,500.00Type your paragraph here.

Zoe Watkins, a 2021 graduate of Spelman and a past BWJ scholarship awardee, encouraged and challenged the incoming freshwomen to stay focused, set goals, encourage each other, and start with the intention of graduating in four years

In addition to celebrating the newest members of our sisterhood, the installation of new HAC officers for the 2023-2025 term took place. Rosa Kilpatrick, former NAASC president, presided. The new officers are President - Wyndolyn Fuqua, Vice-president - Jai Spivey, Secretary - Gina Jones, Corresponding secretary - Pamela Gray-Bailey, Treasurer - Tawnya Laughinghouse, and Financial Secretary -Alicia Redrick.
